Early life

Musical career
In 1985, Dre began working with fellow Compton native Eazy-E, who had been producing music since high school. Together, they formed Ruthless Records, named after the street where they grew up. Their first release was “Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang”. They followed it up with “Boyz-n-the Hood” in 1987. In 1988, they signed a deal with Priority Records and dropped the album Straight Outta Compton. This marked the start of the gangsta rap movement, which lasted well into the 1990s.
