Better Man Lyrics – Taylor Swift

better man lyrics

Send someone to love me
I need to rest in arms
Keep me safe from harm
In pouring rain
Give me endless summer
Lord, I fear the cold
Feel I’m getting old
Before my time

As my soul heals the shame
I will grow through this pain
Lord, I’m doing all I can
To be a better man

Go easy on my conscience
‘Cause it’s not my fault
I know I’ve been taught
To take the blame
Rest assured my angels
Will catch my tears
Walk me out of here
I’m in pain

As my soul heals the shame
I will grow through this pain
Lord, I’m doing all I can
To be a better man

Once you’ve found that lover
You’re homeward bound
Love is all around
Love is all around
I know some have fallen
On stony ground
But love is all around

Send someone to love me
I need to rest in arms
Keep me safe from harm
In pouring rain
Give me endless summer
Lord, I fear the cold
Feel I’m getting old
Before my time

As my soul heals the shame
I will grow through this pain
Lord, I’m doing all I can
To be a better man

Life and career

Swift began writing songs while she was still in high school. By 17, she had written several songs, including “Lucky You”, which she recorded herself. In 2004, she wrote “Our Song” for the movie Valentine’s Day, starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. Afterward, she met producer Scott Borchetta, who signed her to his label, Big Machine Records.

In 2005, she won Best Female Vocalist at the American Idol competition. This led to a contract with the record label 19 Entertainment. Her debut album, Fearless, was released in 2006. Its lead single, “Tim McGraw”, reached number one on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and sold over 2 million copies. The second single, “Picture to Burn”, peaked at number three. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 albums chart and went platinum within weeks.

Her second studio album, Speak Now, was released in 2008. It included the singles “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me”; both topped the charts in Canada and the United States. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” became her first top ten hit in Australia. The album also produced two more top 10 hits: “The Way I Loved You” and “I Knew You Were Trouble”.
