B.o.B
Rapper B.o.B has been arrested for domestic violence. The rapper was taken into custody Friday night following a 911 call about an assault at his home in Calabasas, California. He faces charges of corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant and false imprisonment. Police say he barricaded himself inside the house while holding his wife against her will. She escaped around 4 p.m. local time.
The couple had reportedly been arguing over money. They are now engaged.
Life and career
In 2004, B.o.b. met Rich Gang member Big Boi while working at a local radio station. They became friends and began collaborating together. They recorded songs such as “Cookie”, “I Got A Story To Tell” and “Gangsta Shit”.
By 2006, B.o. B signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. His debut single, “Airplanes,” was produced by DJ Green Lantern and reached number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. This success led to him being named Best New Artist at the 2007 BET Hip Hop Awards.
On May 31, 2008, B.o. b released his debut album, Strange Clouds, which debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200. The lead single from the album, “Strange Clouds”, peaked atop the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The second single, the Kanye West-produced “Nothin’ On You”, failed to match the success of its predecessor.
At the end of 2008, B.o B released his follow up album, G.O.A.T., which included the singles “Racks Me” and “No Diggity.” Both singles reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making B.o.B. the youngest solo male rapper ever to achieve this feat.
In 2010, B.o. won the award for Top Rap Act at the MTV Video Music Awards. Later that same year, B.o. released his third studio album, Bling Dawg Ballas. The album featured production from Lil Wayne, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Just Blaze, Cool & Dre, among others. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200.
In 2011, B.o. dropped his fourth studio album, Born Again. The album spawned the hit single “Airplanes (Let’s Take Off)” featuring Bruno Mars. The single topped the charts worldwide and earned B.o.B a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album. The album itself debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. In 2012, B.o. announced plans to release another mixtape called B.o.B Presents: The Adventures Of Bobby Ray. The project consisted of collaborations with artists including Drake, Rick Ross, Travie McCoy, Future, 2 Chainz, Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, and many more.
On April 20, 2013, B.o. revealed that he was working on his fifth studio album. Titled E.L.E. (Every Little Extra), it was released on June 25, 2013. The album features guest appearances from Eminem, Rihanna, Jay Z, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Nas, Chris Brown, Tyga, Beyoncé, and many more. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 selling over 80,000 copies in its first week.
