Step 1: Poker Hand Ranking
In addition to the aspect of the psychological games in poker, the higher hand usually decides the outcome – unless you are bluffing, of course! So how do you play poker properly, especially as a beginner? You form the strongest hand. The highest value hand in most poker games is a royal flush.
Step 2: Learn poker table positions
Position is everything in poker and all action is centered around the button – except in seven card stud. The starting positions, such as the small and big blind, are to the left of the button and act first post-flop. The positions on the right side of the button are the late positions, which are last to act, and the positions in between are the middle positions.
Step 3: What happens after the flop
Game action begins with the player to the left of the BB (Big Blind). Play then proceeds clockwise with the BB as the last player. Before the flop, players have the choice of folding, calling, or raising. Once all players have taken their turn, the betting round ends.
Step 4: What happens after the flop
The flop consists of the first three community cards. After the flop, players have the option to check (no bet), bet, call, fold or raise – depending on their position at the table and previous actions.
Step 5: What happens after the turn
This fourth community card appears after the flop betting round ends. You have the same options after the turn as you do after the flop: check, bet, call, fold or raise – depending on your position at the table and previous actions.
Step 6: What happens after the river
When you finally see the river – the fifth community card – you should have a winning hand. Or you try to bluff when everyone else is checking but you. Also, there are no more cards to beat you with! This is something you should internalize when learning poker.
Step 7: Now it’s time for the showdown
There must be at least 2 players left for a showdown to take place. The winner must reveal their cards to win the hand. The winner is determined based on the best combination of five cards. There are two prize pools to win in Omaha Hi-Lo!
Step 8: Get Ready for a New Round!

How do you play Texas Hold’em Poker?
Omaha Hi
Omaha Hi (Pot Limit Omaha – PLO) is played with 4 hole cards and not 2 cards as in Hold’em. The player must make the best five-card hand consisting of 2 of the hole cards and 3 of the 5 community cards. Unlike in Hold’em, you can play the “board” here. Do you have 4 diamond cards in your hand? Too bad you can only use 2 of them to make your flush!

Omaha Hi Lo
In Omaha Hi-Lo there are two winning hands – a Hi and a Lo hand. In this Omaha format, the pot is split 50/50 between the two winning hands. To form the Lo, you must use 5 different cards that count lower than 8. You can only use exactly 2 of the 4 hole cards and 3 of the 5 community cards to form the best possible hand.

There are two winning hands in Omaha Hi-Lo – a Hi and a Lo hand. In this Omaha format, the prize pool is split 50/50 between both winning hands. To form the Lo hand, you must use five individual cards that count lower than eight. You can only use two out of four pocket cards and three out of five community cards to form the best possible hand. The hi-hand is formed in the same way as in Hold’em.
