1.Soccer player Freddy Rincón from Colombia dies after traffic accident

Former national soccer captain Freddy Rincón has died after an accident in Colombia.

Former Colombian soccer captain Freddy Rincón has died at the age of 55 following a car accident. His death is a great loss not only for his family and friends, but also for the sport of the South American country, wrote the Colombian football association FCF on Wednesday evening (local time).

World governing body FIFA and the South American Confederation Conmebol also expressed their regret over Rincón’s death on Twitter. A goal by the midfielder became famous at the 1990 World Cup in Italy in a group match against eventual world champions Germany, when Rincón shot the ball between the legs of goalkeeper Bodo Illgner and into the goal.

Accident in Colombia: footballer Rincón collides with a bus

The three-time World Cup participant Rincón, who was revered in his home country as the “Colossus of Buenaventura” in relation to his birthplace and his stature, was injured in an accident in the south of the city of Cali on Monday and taken to a hospital. Despite the best efforts of the doctors, the 55-year-old died on Wednesday, the clinic said. The car Rincón was in had collided with a bus. Conmebol praised him as a “great player and idol of Colombian football”.

Rincón was part of the generation of outstanding players, alongside Carlos Valderrama and Faustino Asprilla, who qualified for three consecutive World Cups with Colombia – in 1990, 1994 and 1998. Rincón’s famous goal against Germany helped Colombia progress at the 1990 World Cup. In club football, Rincón played for América de Cali, Palmeiras São Paulo and SC Corinthians, SSC Napoli and Real Madrid, among others.

2.Tragic accident: Young player dies in a car accident

The young soccer player Jordi Bongard died in a traffic accident. His club mourns.

Soccer player Jordi Bongard died in a tragic car accident. The 20-year-old young professional from Borussia Mönchengladbach is said to have collided with a truck in his Mercedes at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday night.

His club wrote on Twitter: “Borussia mourns the loss of Jordi Bongard. Our U23 player died in a traffic accident tonight. We express our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones and wish them a lot of strength. Jordi will always be in our thoughts & hearts!”

Bongard has played for Borussia since 2013 and received a professional contract in July 2021.

3.Van Drongelen involved in fatal accident – ex-HSV star in hospital

Dutch soccer player Rick van Drongelen is involved in a fatal road accident in the Netherlands. The driver of the other vehicle died in an accident. Van Drongelen himself is in the hospital. Details of the accident are not yet known.

Dutch soccer player Rick van Drongelen has been involved in a fatal traffic accident. As his current club KV Mechelen announced on Wednesday, the driver of the other vehicle was killed. Van Drongelen, who is on loan from Bundesliga club Union Berlin for Mechelen, was hospitalized, according to the club.

Details of the accident are not yet known, the Dutch police have launched an investigation. “We would like to express our condolences to the family of the victim,” said Caluwe. Before moving to Union Berlin last summer, Van Drongelen had played for Hamburger SV from 2017. In the winter, the central defender was loaned out to Mechelen.

4.Ahmet Calik died in a car accident

Turkish football is mourning the loss of a national team player who died in a tragic car accident.

Ankara – Great sadness in Turkish football because former international Ahmet Calik died in a car accident. The 27-year-old’s car overturned on a highway near the Turkish capital Ankara, the state news agency Anadolu reports. The vehicle was badly damaged in the accident and ended up off the road. Ahmet Calik did not survive the serious accident.

The 27-year-old was last under contract with the Turkish club Konyaspor. The club took to Twitter to express their dismay and sadness at the death of Ahmet Calik. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our football player Ahmet Calik, who has won the love of our fans and our city since his first visit to our Konyaspor. Our condolences go to all of us, especially to the family of our football player Ahmet Calik,” Konyaspor said.

Turkey international dies in car crash

Ahmet Calik was born in Ankara and went through the youth department of Genclerbirligi SK. There he turned professional in 2013 and quickly established himself in the professional team. After playing in all the youth national teams in his home country, he made it into the Turkish national team through strong performances. In total, Calik completed eight games for Turkey’s country selection. Calik also took part in the EM 2016, but was not used there.

Mourning the death of Turkey national player

At club level, the 27-year-old left his training club Genclerbirligi SK in 2017 and joined Turkish giants Galatasaray. The club from Istanbul also reported on the accident via Twitter: “It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of our former player Ahmet Calik. We extend our condolences to the grieving family, loved ones and the Turkish sports community,” Galatasaray said.

After three years, Ahmet Calik left Galatasaray for Konyaspor, where he remained under contract until his death. The central defender has made 18 appearances this season, appearing in a total of 192 games in the Turkish.
