In one of the most powerful speeches of her career, Meryl Streep, while accepting the coveted Cecil B. De Mille lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes, used the moment to go after Donald Trump and how utterly awful he is.
Streep reminded everyone that we are a nation of immigrants, and Hollywood is no different. She called out name after name and where they are from.
Streep then went after Trump and how he horrifically mocked a disabled reporter, and how it was a performance she cannot get out of her mind. She let everyone know that no one, in such a place of power, should be such a bully.
Then knowing how much Trump hates the press, Streep pressures the media and the press to hold Trump accountable for everything he says and does.
Streep, who was a Hillary Clinton supporter and also mocked Trump in full makeup in a play earlier last year, is quite obviously very upset with the president-elect, as any decent human being should be.
She ended the speech saying:
“As my friend, the dear departed Princess Leia said to me once, ‘take your broken heart, make it into art.'”
