President-elect Donald Trump has spent the last several weeks defending Russia and Vladimir Putin from various intelligence reports that have confirmed the Kremlin’s involvement in the US election. He has continued to spew the most pro-Russia nonsense and has even criticized President Barack Obama when he put new sanctions on Russia for meddling in the election.
Obama has had enough of Trump’s anti-American attitude and the Republicans that are following in his footsteps. In an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos yesterday, Obama set the record straight and sent a brutal reminder to Trump about which country he was actually living in, and which country he is supposed to be leading in just a few short days.
During the interview, Obama explained how Russia had “intended to meddle and they meddled” in America’s election, and then he went to town on the Republican Party and Trump. Obama said:
“One of the things I am concerned about is the degree to which we’ve seen a lot of commentary lately where there are Republicans or pundits or cable commentators who seem to have more confidence in Vladimir Putin than fellow Americans because those fellow Americans are Democrats.”
Obama continued, making reference to the praise and defense Trump and the GOP have issued Putin:
What I will say is that, and I said that after the election, we have to remind ourselves that we’re on the same team. Vladimir Putin is not on our team.”
Exactly. When you look at the things Trump has said about Putin and Russia, it’s hard to believe he’s actually going to be America’s president – because he clearly isn’t portraying himself as a President that Americans can trust or someone who truly cares about this country. Trump needs to hear this message now more than ever. Just this morning, Trump tweeted his most pro-Russia statements yet, insulting all Americans in the process. Trump tweeted:
“Having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. Only ‘stupid’ people, or fools, would think that it is bad! We have enough problems around the world without yet another one. When I am President, Russia will respect us far more than they do now and both countries will, perhaps, work together to solve some of the many great and pressing problems and issues of the WORLD!”
The next four years are going to be a nightmare.
