President-elect Donald Trump has never tried to hide the fact that he absolutely hates the press and wants to exclude them as much as possible. Whether it is by attacking them for telling the truth about him, threatening to sue or limit freedom of speech, or ditching them completely, Trump has made every attempt to create chaos for reporters and media outlets.
Earlier today, Trump evaded the press once again by ditching his protocol press pool to go play golf at his club in Jupiter with only his Secret Service agents in tow. The only reason the media was even tipped off to Trump’s secretive escape from his Palm Beach residence was because a fellow golfer tweeted about seeing the President-elect on the golf course:
Of course, no Trump outing is complete without a nice big dose of narcissism:
As always, Trump’s team was left to cover for him and clean up his mess. But judging from the response Trump transition aide Stephanie Grisham gave pool reporters, it’s really starting to wear on them. Grisham said:
“It was a last-minute decision to play golf, nothing more.”
Grisham also gave a statement to the Associated Press, where she sounded equally frustrated with Trump:
“We are in the home stretch of this transition period and don’t anticipate any additional situations like this between now and inauguration. We hope this one incident doesn’t negate all the progress we have made and look forward to continuing the great relationships we have built.”
Wow, Trump’s team sounds fed up! This wouldn’t even be the first time Trump ditched his press pool – a few weeks ago, Trump bailed on his press pool to eat dinner with his family at a steakhouse in New York.
